I heard this quote mentioned on radio this afternoon. It’s by Jim Rohn. A speaker and author famous for motivational audio programs for business and life.
“If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.”
I googled and came across this. by Jim Rohn as well.
“When you know what you want, and want it bad enough, you will find a way to get it.”
I had a long chat with one of reservist mate during in-camp a few weeks ago. He’s an insurance agent. So i thought of taking the free time that we have to ask some questions about my PA policy and also opportunity of doing financial planning. He explained to me lots of stuff, including his own theory on financial planning. He list out the steps i need to take to be qualify as a consultant. I told him financial consultancy is not suitable for me as i am an introvert. He told me he is as well. (That kind of surprise me as he don’t look like one). He say if he can do it, i can as well. One thing i need to ask myself is how big is my why? (He was scribbling on the paper as he was talking and he wrote a big “WHY?”). Just like the quote mention, he told me if i know what’s my why?, i will do whatever to achieve it.
He relate a story of his fellow agent. This guy just joined the company and he had been working hard. What’s his why? He wants to save his marriage. He is heavily in debt and if he don’t clear it, his wife will leave him. That’s a very big why. He worked really hard and succeed. This is what this guy shared when he receive the award during their company’s event.
I want to be successful in my career. My why?. If i don’t work on my career now, I fear for my future. I would not be able to move on to my next phase in life. Family life.
